Mr. Balbo’s practice focuses on Criminal Defense and Family Law. In the area of Criminal Defense, Mr. Balbo handles felonies and misdemeanors in Federal, State, and Military Courts. He has defended clients against charges of Murder, Rape, Sexual Assault, Drug Distribution, Molestation, Child Pornography, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and Domestic Violence. He is certified in the methods of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and was the first attorney in Georgia to voluntarily install a Smart Start Ignition Interlock Device into his vehicle to learn about its use firsthand. When defending a client, knowledge of the law and a mastery of the facts are critical for success. Every client deserves an attorney who will aggressively fight for them every step of the way.
Family Law cases, including Divorce, Child Custody, Adoption, and Child Support, can be some of the most challenging because they are intensely personal and emotionally charged. Each case is unique, and it’s critical that the attorney and client communicate freely, not only about the facts of the case, but also about the client’s expectations and how the attorney can help attain them. Every client going through a Family Law matter should have an attorney who will listen to them.
Mr. Balbo was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Duquesne University and Fordham University School of Law. He entered the Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps and was an Honor Graduate at the 157th JAG Basic Course. After being assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Mr. Balbo deployed to Kuwait and “crossed the berm” into Iraq in March 2003 with Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning the Bronze Star. Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Balbo continued to act as a military prosecutor until leaving the service in 2006.
Mr. Balbo has presented courses on the Servicemember’s Civil Relief Act on behalf of the American Bar Association and on Federal and State Laws on behalf of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He was also selected as Bryan County’s Favorite Lawyer in 2016.
